KARACHI: A child was killed and eight other people including women sustained injuries when unidentified miscreants hurled a hand grenade at a gathering in the Federal C Area Liaquatabad here on Monday evening.
According to Sharifabad police, a 12-year old child identified as Faraz was killed while eight others including women were injured in the blast. The injured have been identified as Syed Nawab, Syed Shamim Raza, Muhammad Raza, Salma, Jamila, Ghausia Haider, Shamim and Faizan. The injured were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The police and Rangers immediately reached the spot and cordoned off the area.
Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Ishartul Ebad has expressed deep sorrow over the injuries of some women in the incident. He directed the law enforcement agencies to arrest the culprits responsible for the crime. The governor also directed the Health Authorities to provide best possible treatment to the injured.
Sindh Inspector General of Police A.D. Khawaja has also taken notice of the incident and sought a report from DIG West.
