RAWALPINDI: British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan Sunday presented Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif with an honorary championship belt for the latter’s services against militancy, local media reported.
Amir, who met General Sharif here at the General Head Quarters, presented the honorary championship belt on behalf of World Boxing Council (WBC) President Mauricio Sulaimán.
In 2014, Amir had called on the army chief in Rawalpindi and expressed solidarity with the armed forces after the Army Public School (APS) carnage which left more than 140 people, mostly students, dead.
He had also visited the Combined Military Hospital and inquired after the health of the injured students.
